Description

The Emerson SLS 1508 Logic Solver (part number KJ2201X1-BA1) is a safety-focused logic solver designed for industrial Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). Engineered to deliver SIL 3 level safety functions, it operates on the DeltaV SIS platform to execute safety logic, monitor for faults, and provide redundant protection, making it ideal for safety-critical control in high-risk industries including oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, and manufacturing. Equipped with a 32-bit RISC processor, it has 512KB of memory and 256KB of storage, with power options of 24V DC (220V version available in some markets). It offers two operating temperature ranges: 0 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius for industrial use, and -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius for extreme environments, with an IP20 protection rating. Communication is supported via Ethernet, RS-232, and the DeltaV SIS dedicated SISnet bus. The device provides interfaces for up to 16 configurable I/O channels, including discrete inputs, discrete outputs, HART analog inputs, and HART dual-state outputs. Mounted on an 8-wide carrier, it communicates via dual-channel local peer bus (SISnet) and remote peer rings, with local units hosted by a single DeltaV controller and remote units by separate controllers; redundant configurations use four slots on the carrier.
