Description

The FOXBORO FCP280 Field Control Processor is a distributed, optionally fault-tolerant controller module designed for industrial automation and distributed control system (DCS) applications. It executes core control functions including regulation, logic, timing, and sequential control, alongside data collection, alarm detection, and notification capabilities. Working in coordination with connected Foxboro DCS Fieldbus Modules (FBM), it supports diverse process control operations, and can integrate with multifunctional control algorithms to address various industrial process needs.

Key technical specifications include a 24V DC power supply with configuration-dependent power consumption, an operating temperature range of -20 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius, and a storage temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius, with a non-condensing humidity tolerance of 5% to 95%. Powered by dual 64-bit PowerPC processors, it is equipped with 256MB RAM and 8MB Flash memory, and supports communication via high-speed Ethernet, Modbus, and 2 Mbps or 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbus ports.

Featuring a rugged die-cast aluminum enclosure, it is rated for G3-level harsh environments, can be installed in non-ventilated field cabinets, and carries CE certification. Its modular design simplifies installation and maintenance; the standard baseplate supports connection to a Fieldbus Splitter (RH928CV) for port expansion, while an optional dual-cable baseplate enables four PIO channels with separate A and B bus connectors. It is ideal for applications in oil refining, petrochemicals, power generation, mining, water treatment, and life sciences.
