Allen-Bradley 1756-CNB ControlLogix ControlNet Interface Module
Description
The Allen-Bradley 1756-CNB ControlLogix ControlNet Interface Module is a high-performance communication module designed for ControlLogix systems. It serves as a critical bridge between ControlLogix chassis and ControlNet networks, facilitating data transfer between the backplane and the network to enable distributed I/O applications. The module also supports bridging between different protocol networks to exchange data across diverse system architectures. When paired with Logix5550 controllers, it manages I/O data, handling both scheduled and unscheduled data traffic for efficient system operation. Key technical specifications include a 5Mbps data transfer rate on ControlNet networks, support for up to 99 available network nodes, and a maximum of 64 bidirectional connections with other ControlNet devices; additional connections can be achieved by adding a second 1756-CNB module in the same chassis and network. It provides 1 ControlNet BNC port and 1 ControlNet RJ45 port for flexible network connectivity, and offers up to 20 buffers for unconnected messages. The module also enables adapter functions for transferring configuration, programming, and operator interface data, supports I/O bridging via produce/consume tags, and allows unscheduled MSG instruction communication with other ControlNet nodes, plus local network access through NAP.
