Description

Woodward 5441-629 Relay Interface Module is a microprocessor-controlled mechanical-hydraulic amplification governor and relay interface unit designed to regulate and monitor the operation of gas turbines, as well as diesel, natural gas, dual-fuel engines, and steam turbines. It delivers precise control and safety monitoring for equipment in power generation, oil and gas, and aerospace applications, ensuring stable, secure operation of prime movers. Key components include an Electro-Hydraulic Power Servo (EHPS), a three-stage servo valve that drives low-pressure steam turbine control valve cylinders; this EHPS can be configured for single-acting or double-acting actuators, and can utilize turbine lubricating oil supply or an independent oil source. The module supports speed or power output control for engines, and in parallel generator set applications, it operates in droop mode for load distribution when AC generator frequencies are matched. It also functions as an interface between programmable logic controller (PLC) systems and external devices, enabling signal reception from sensors or switches, and signal transmission to actuators or relays to enhance energy conversion, extraction, and distribution for both renewable and fossil fuel-based power systems.
