Description

The Woodward 8516-038 TG-13 Hydraulic Governor is a die-cast aluminum mechanical hydraulic speed-droop regulator designed for non-synchronous (constant speed) operation of API611 steam turbines driving pumps, compressors, generators, turbine expanders, pressure and inlet draft fans, and other equipment. It senses turbine rotor speed via an input drive shaft, compares the speed to an internal setpoint, and controls inlet steam flow through a rotating output terminal shaft connected to the turbine’s speed control valve. A drive shaft-powered ball head assembly detects turbine speed, while an integrated drive shaft-driven oil pump generates the force needed to actuate the speed control valve. Key features include low-cost speed droop control, a counterclockwise drive shaft, weatherproof construction, an independent sump, NEMA A speed control rating, 16 N m (12 ft-lb) output torque, rugged design for harsh environments, and certification for HAZLOC and ATEX locations.
