The ABB PM564 CPU from the AC500-eCo series
Description
ABB PM564 CPU is a programmable logic controller (PLC) belonging to the AC500-eCo series, designed for small to mid-sized modern control systems with flexible, cost-effective configuration. Key technical specifications include 128 kB program memory and a fast program instruction scan time of 0.08 microseconds, ensuring efficient operation. It integrates one RS485 serial port, with a second port available as an option, and supports direct storage of Modbus data in internal memory, plus file processing with compression and decompression functions.
The unit offers high-speed counting up to 50 kHz, and its analog channels can be configured as digital inputs for enhanced adaptability. Locally, it can expand up to 10 I/O modules, allowing mixing of standard S500 and S500-eCo modules, with a maximum of 335 local I/O channels. An optional SD card or SD card adapter is available for data storage and program backup. As part of the AC500 system ecosystem, it uses the same programming software as other AC500 CPUs (PM571, PM581, PM591) supporting 5 programming languages. It mounts directly to a CPU baseplate, which can optionally integrate Ethernet or ARCNET network interfaces, and retains a CS31 communication interface for compatibility with AC31 series PLCs. Up to 4 additional communication interfaces can be expanded to support standard bus protocols like Profibus DP-V1, DeviceNet, and CANopen.
