S800 I/O AI830A ABB Analog Input
Description
The S800 I/O AI830A is an analog input module designed for the ABB S800 I/O system, a fully distributed, modular process I/O platform that communicates with parent controllers via industrial standard fieldbuses. This module features 8 unipolar single-ended channels, each configurable for either voltage or current input, supporting signals including 0…20 mA, 4…20 mA, 0…10 V, and 2…10 V dc. It does not support HART, SOE, redundancy, high integrity, or intrinsic safety interfaces.
Key technical specifications include 12-bit resolution, with input impedance of 290 k ohms for voltage inputs and 230-275 k ohms for current inputs; current input circuits include a 250 ohm total resistance (with PTC) that limits current to protect against transmitter power short circuits up to 30 V dc, while voltage inputs can withstand overvoltage or undervoltage up to 30 V dc with a 290 k ohm input resistance. The module offers groupwise isolation from ground, a -5%/+15% under/over range, maximum error of 0.1%, and an input filter with a 0-90% rise time of 140 ms. Temperature drift is typ. 70 ppm/C, max. 100 ppm/C for voltage inputs, and typ. 50 ppm/C, max. 80 ppm/C for current inputs. The S800 I/O system enables flexible field installation near sensors and actuators, reducing wiring costs and supporting scalable, modular configuration for small to large-scale indoor or outdoor applications.
