Description

The ABB PM856K01 Processor Unit Kit is a core component for the Advant 800xA and AC 800M control systems, designed to support complex industrial control operations. It features an 8 megabyte memory capacity, paired with a high-performance superscalar RISC CPU, a dedicated system bus and controller, and a coprocessor for redundant connection communication to ensure reliable data transfer. The unit uses static RAM main memory with battery backup functionality, enabling fast restart after main power failure, plus synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) for quick recovery, though with shorter data retention time than the ABB PM802F. Its main memory is equipped with an automatic error checking and correction (EDC) unit, capable of detecting 2-bit errors and correcting 1-bit errors in data words to maintain data integrity. Hardware configuration and diagnostic data are stored in 16K-bit EEPROM, while a flash EPROM holds controller firmware, allowing software upgrades without chip replacement.
