ABB TU849 Module Termination Unit

Description

The ABB TU849 Module Termination Unit is a redundant CPU controller unit designed for integration in DCS (Distributed Control Systems). It supports flexible expansion via add-on I/O modules and features a comprehensive suite of communication interfaces for broad system connectivity. Key communication ports include an additional RS-232C port for connecting third-party systems and devices; PROFIBUS DP, DP-V1 interfaces that enable integration with S200, S800, and S900 I/O systems and access to a wide range of field devices; a Foundation Fieldbus HSE interface that provides a backbone bus system solution for Foundation Fieldbus environments; and PROFINET IO, PROFIBUS, and DeviceNet interfaces for extensive integration of process equipment and I/O systems. It also includes an IEC 61850 interface for monitoring and controlling substation equipment or protection relays, an ABB INSUM interface for supervision and control of electrical switchgear via multi-point bus connections, and MasterBus 300 and AF100 interfaces for compatibility with Advant OCS and ABB Master systems. For legacy system upgrades, the unit offers a S100 I/O interface to connect existing Advant controllers 410, 450, or MasterPiece 200 systems to AC 800M while retaining existing I/O components, and a TRIO I/O interface to upgrade from MOD300 controllers to AC 800M while preserving existing TRIO I/O parts.
