ABB DSTA 121 Connection Unit
Description
The ABB DSTA 121 Connection Unit is a 2022-released terminal unit for industrial automation systems, with G3-compatible versions of matching SD822 and SS822 modules (SD822Z and SS822Z) available. It features an open, vented plastic housing for I/O modules, and front-end modules are equipped with at least three light-emitting diodes to indicate fault, run, and warning statuses, with additional indicators on select models. Designed for operational flexibility, it supports hot swapping of I/O modules while the I/O station is fully running, minimizing system downtime. Mechanical keying and MTU prevent module insertion into positions where excessive voltage or current could cause damage, and each module has an electronic identification ID that triggers module type definition by the ModuleBus host if mismatched with system configurations. The unit supports both single-module and redundant-module applications, making it suitable for a range of industrial control setups. As part of ABB’s Advant controller ecosystem, it integrates seamlessly with related components to enable reliable signal connection and system monitoring.
