Description

The ABB REF615 Feeder Protection Relay is a dedicated protection and control device belonging to the ABB Relion® product series and 615 Protection and Control product series. Designed for protection, control, measurement, and monitoring of utility substations and industrial power systems, it supports radial, loop, and mesh distribution networks with or without distributed generation, covering feeder protection for overhead lines, cable feeders, and distribution substation bus systems. Built to the IEC 61850 standard, it enables seamless interoperability and horizontal communication between on-site devices without requiring additional communication modules, and supports multiple communication protocols including Modbus and IEC 61850 with GOOSE messaging. The relay can serve as primary or backup protection for neutral ungrounded, resistive grounded, compensated grounded, and solidly grounded networks, as well as overhead and cable feeders. It features a compact, withdrawable unit design, with 12 standard configurations available; signal configurations can be modified via signal matrices or the PCM600 Protection and Control IED Manager’s graphical tools, which also support creating multi-layer logic functions with elements like timers and triggers to adapt to specific application needs. With dimensions of 220*210*120mm, it is compatible with single-breaker, 1.5-breaker, and double-breaker feeder setups, and provides protection functions including directional and non-directional overcurrent, ground fault, and voltage, frequency, and power-based protection.
