The ABB TPS02 Turbine Protection Slave Module is an industrial-grade component belonging to the Bailey and Symphony Plus I/O HR product lines, designed to integrate with the Symphony Plus Process Leitsystem (PLS) controller. It features a triple-redundant input plus two-out-of-three voting logic design, using three independent modules to synchronously collect speed, power, and pressure signals, eliminating single-point failures and ensuring reliable operation. Core protective functions include overspeed protection (OSP), high-pressure trip (EHC), and low-pressure trip (TRIP), with a response time of ≤50ms, meeting SIL3 safety certification requirements. The EHC function relieves pressure from all valve actuators, while the TRIP function directly cuts off the turbine control oil circuit for emergency shutdown.

Technical specifications include a dual redundant DC 9-36V operating voltage, power consumption ≤5W, IP30 protection rating, and operation in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. It uses fully welded sealing technology, complies with ATEX/IECEx explosion-proof standards, and resists H2S corrosive gases, making it suitable for harsh industrial scenarios such as petrochemical and metallurgy. The module supports mainstream industrial buses including PROFINET and PROFIBUS, and is compatible with control systems like ABB Symphony and Infi90. Its power imbalance protection (PLI) function compares electrical load output with intermediate cylinder exhaust pressure, temporarily closing the intermediate pressure control valve when mechanical power input exceeds limits; tests on a 600MW unit show it can suppress power fluctuations within ±2%. Additionally, it features hot-swappable design for on-site module replacement with automatic configuration, reducing downtime significantly.
