Description

The ABB TU507-ETH Interface Terminal Unit is a dedicated communication backplane designed exclusively for the ABB PLC AC500 system, serving as a critical component for system communication connectivity. It integrates with the AC500’s core controller, which functions as the DCS backbone with CPU, RAM, and E2PROM chips, featuring two interfaces to receive I/O bus signals and connect to networks and human-machine interfaces. This terminal unit supports a rich library of function blocks, including diverse control algorithms (such as PID, Smith prediction, and logic operations) and arithmetic functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and trigonometric calculations), enabling users to configure customized control schemes that are stored in erasable E2PROM for flexible updates. For enhanced system safety, it supports redundant hot standby operation for closed-loop controllers. It is compatible with multiple communication network topologies, including bus, ring, and star structures, typically using broadcast communication with data transfer rates of 10Mb/s to 100Mb/s. It operates with a three-phase AC380V low-voltage power supply, and features a maximum allowable potential difference of 1V between terminal M (negative power supply) and terminal AGND (common reference for analog I/O), with no electrical isolation for analog signals.
