Description

The Allen-Bradley 1746-HSCE High-Speed Counter Module is a component of the SLC 500 programmable logic controller (PLC) platform, designed for precise high-speed counting applications. It supports bidirectional counting to detect object movement in any direction, making it ideal for scenarios requiring accurate control of moving object speed and length, such as applications using orthogonal encoders and various high-speed switches.

Key technical specifications include a maximum input frequency of 50kHz and a minimum pulse width of 10 microseconds. It accepts ±5V DC differential inputs and 0-5V DC single-ended inputs, with supply voltage ranges of 3.8-5.5V DC for 5V systems, 9.4-16.5V DC for 12V systems, and 16.5-30V DC for 24V systems. The module features two sets of ±A, ±B, and ±Z input channels, which can connect up to two orthogonal encoders or be configured to count single-ended pulses from up to four input devices.

Equipped with 4 open-collector outputs, it supports 5V, 12V, or 24V DC, with output currents ranging from 16mA to 125mA depending on voltage. Counting frequencies vary by mode: 50kHz in range and sequencer modes, and 32kHz in rate mode. Its storage temperature range is -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius, ensuring reliable performance in harsh industrial environments.
