Description

The Allen-Bradley 1747-SDN DeviceNet Scanner Module is a single-slot communication module designed for SLC 500 systems, compatible with SLC 5/02 or higher controllers and supporting slave mode operation. It serves as a core communication hub for DeviceNet networks, enabling seamless data transfer between the host controller and DeviceNet-enabled devices via connected adapter modules. Key communication capabilities include support for up to 63 nodes at 125Kbps, with flexible message transfer modes such as polling, strobe, status change, cyclic I/O, and pass-through configuration. In pass-through mode, it functions as a bridge to connect separate DeviceNet networks, replacing legacy DeviceNet connections like 1770-KFD, 1784-PCD, 1784-PCID, and 1784-PCIDS. The module offers broad signal compatibility, accepting input signals ranging from 0 to 20mA, 4 to 20mA, +/-10VDC, and 0 to 10VDC to work with diverse analog signal sources. For easy monitoring and maintenance, it features 2 front-panel LED status indicators for module operation and DeviceNet link status, plus an LCD display for module address and error notifications. Electrical specifications include 5V DC 500mA and 24V DC 90mA backplane current draw, basic insulation tested at 500V AC for 60 seconds, and 30V circuit isolation between DeviceNet and the backplane. It also supports simplified I/O configuration via wizards, along with remove and insert under power (RIUP) and module-level diagnostics to reduce downtime and streamline troubleshooting.
