Description

The Emerson KL4101X1-BA1 CHARM I/O Card Carrier is an I/O node designed for the DeltaV S control system, configured in redundant pairs for enhanced reliability. Each redundant pair can support up to 8 DIN rail-mounted CHARM backplanes, with each backplane accommodating 12 individual CHARM modules, delivering scalable I/O capacity for diverse industrial applications. Unlike traditional I/O systems that only communicate with one controller, this card carrier uses fiber optic Ethernet to connect with up to 4 independent DeltaV S series controllers, expanding the range of I/O point selection during configuration for greater system flexibility.

Each CHARM is a hot-swappable, single-channel I/O module, supporting a wide variety of signal types including AI 4-20mA HART, AI 0-10V isolated, thermocouple/mV, RTD, AO 4-20mA HART, DI 24VDC dry contact, DI 24VDC isolated, DI 120VAC isolated, DI 230VAC isolated, DI NAMUR (intrinsically safe digital and frequency input standard signal), DO 24VDC High Side, DO 24VDC isolated, DO 120/230VAC isolated, and DO 100mA energy-limited. This universal signal compatibility eliminates the need for signal-specific I/O cards, simplifying system design, reducing installation time, and lowering overall project costs by allowing any signal type to be integrated into the same I/O node.
