FBM217 Foxboro Compact Discrete Input Module
Description
The FBM217 Foxboro Compact Discrete Input Module is a high-performance interface component designed for industrial automation systems, part of the Foxboro I/A Series distributed control system (DCS). Its core function is to receive discrete input signals from various voltage sources, convert them into digital signals for DCS recognition and processing, providing reliable signal acquisition and handling capabilities for process control applications. Key technical specifications include 32 isolated input channels, ensuring signal integrity and cross-channel interference prevention. It supports multiple input voltage ranges: 15 to 60V DC, 120V AC/125V DC, and 240V AC, with a typical input current of 2.2mA at 30V DC. Communication is achieved via a redundant 2Mbps module field bus to connect with associated FCM or FCP units. The module has a maximum power consumption of 3 watts at 24V DC, with compact dimensions of 90 x 90 x 26 mm and a weight of 100g. Built with a rugged, compact design, it meets Class G3 (severe environment) requirements, and can be mounted on DIN rails or 19-inch racks, delivering high precision, reliability, and traceability for demanding industrial settings.
