Description
The GE FANUC UR8CH CT/VT Module is a component of the GE Multilin UR series, designed for replacement or upgrade of UR series relays. It provides 3-1A/5A phase CTs and 1/5A ground CTs for the host relay, supporting core current and voltage signal detection for relay protection systems. A key highlight is its enhanced diagnostic functionality: it can detect analog channel measurement faults caused by internal module failures, trigger an alarm, and block associated protection functions from tripping to prevent incorrect operation.
The module uses an analog data integrity verification system, which leverages an additional analog hardware channel to monitor data. It calculates a hardware-based analog sum using the formula Sa = Xa – Xb + Xc + Xn (where X represents phase A, B, C, and N voltage or current inputs), then compares this value to a digitally computed sum Sd. If the squared difference between these values exceeds an adjustable error threshold, it identifies a channel fault. To enable full functionality, firmware version requirements apply: relays with firmware below 4.0 require a UR upgrade kit, while those with firmware 4.0 to 5.0 need a firmware update paired with the enhanced diagnostic CT/VT module.
