Invensys TRICONEX 3503E Digital Input Module
Description
The Invensys TRICONEX 3503E Digital Input Module is a core component of the TRICONEX Safety Instrumented System (SIS), engineered for high-security, continuous-operation industrial applications. It collects signals from field digital sensors, switches, and contacts, providing reliable data for critical safety functions such as safety interlocks and emergency shutdown systems (ESD). Designed with a Triple Module Redundancy (TMR) architecture and 2oo3 (two-out-of-three) voting mechanism, it delivers exceptional fault tolerance and operational stability, ensuring uninterrupted performance even in harsh industrial environments.
Key technical specifications include: 24V DC digital input (dry/wet contact selectable), with 16 or 32 input channels depending on the version; input voltage range of 20 to 42.5V DC, with a maximum voltage capacity of 42.5V AC/DC; input impedance of 2.2 kΩ; and configurable response time of ≤10ms, with some variants offering response times under 1ms. It supports multiple communication protocols including Triconex proprietary protocol, Modbus TCP/IP, EtherCAT, ControlNet, and Profibus, and is compatible with Tricon v9/v10/v11 safety control systems.
Additional features include a removable terminal block, support for single-ended or differential input (with configuration), per-channel dual-color (red/green) LED status indicators, and module-level status LEDs for Power, Active, and Fault. Rated for operation from -40 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius with an IP65 protection rating, it holds SIL3 (IEC 61508) and TÜV certifications, making it ideal for high-risk sectors like petrochemical, natural gas, and nuclear power.
