PM783F 3BDH000364R0005 CPU by ABB Precision Industrial Control Series
Description
The PM783F (3BDH000364R0005) is a CPU module from ABB’s Precision Industrial Control Series, functioning as a DCS running on PLC hardware, ideal for small-scale applications with 300 or fewer I/O signals. Equipped with a high-performance processor, it delivers fast cycle times to support demanding industrial operations. It features 10 MB of total memory, with 2 MB backed by a battery for data retention. For connectivity, it includes an onboard 100 Mbit/s Ethernet port for communication between controllers, operator stations, and engineering tools, plus two serial line interfaces: one for Modbus communication and one for diagnostic purposes. The module supports configurable task management, including eight cycle and priority-driven tasks with adjustable cycle times, plus a high-speed cyclic PLC-type task. A small front-panel display shows real-time status and diagnostic information, and a key-lock function enhances security by blocking unauthorized application and firmware downloads. It is compatible with S700 I/O modules, which can be directly inserted or used as remote I/O via PROFIBUS (up to 8 modules per controller), and third-party I/O can connect via MODBUS ASCII/RTU, IEC 60870-5-101, or PROFIBUS. It offers fast I/O scan times as low as 2 ms, with per-channel short-circuit and wire-break detection. It requires an external 24 VDC power supply and specific software versions (2013 SP1 RU04, 2016 SP1 RU03, or higher), and is designed for use with terminal base TB 711F and battery TA521.
