The TRICONEX MP3101 Trident Redundant Processor Module (also labeled as 3101, MP 3101 S2) is a core main processor component designed for Triconex safety control systems, ideal for high-reliability industrial applications including oil and gas, chemical, power, and nuclear power sectors. As a key part of the Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture, it ensures continuous system operation even if one module fails, delivering exceptional fault tolerance and system availability.

This module performs core computing, processing, and management tasks: it coordinates and controls the operation of connected I/O modules, processes input and output data, and maintains efficient, stable operation of the safety control system. It features high-performance 32-bit RISC or PowerPC (Motorola MPC860, 50 MHz) processors, with memory configurations including 2MB RAM, 2MB ROM, 6MB Flash PROM, 16MB DRAM, and 8KB NVRAM for retaining variables.

Equipped with multiple communication interfaces, it supports 10BaseT Ethernet (RJ-45), RS-232, Modbus, USB, optional CANopen, TriBus (25 Mbps with 32-bit + parity CRC protection), and I/O bus connections. It includes comprehensive self-test, fault detection and isolation, DMA diagnostic, and battery-backed real-time clock functions. Certified to IEC 61508 SIL3 and IEC 62443 safety standards, it operates in temperatures from -40 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius, with non-condensing humidity from 5% to 95%, and installs in Triconex Trident rack slots.
